Highlights

Pros

  • Good motion isolation: Using a memory foam comfort layer, the Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress has good motion isolation. It will help prevent motion related sleep disruptions, however, this model has a 1.5 inch quilted cover similar to a pillowtop that may transfer some motion.
  • Showrooms available: Nest Bedding has multiple showrooms where you can try out the mattress before purchasing it. There are showrooms in Chicago, New York City, San Francisco, Palo Alto, Berkeley, Santa Monica, Studio City, Costa Mesa, and with AirBNB partners.
  • Three firmness ratings: You can choose from three firmness ratings of soft, medium, and firm in the Nest Alexander Signature Series.
  • Fast, simple delivery: Nest Alexander Signature Series mattresses are compressed, vacuum sealed, and shipped to your doorstep within one to five business days after manufacturing, so you won't have to wait on a delivery.
  • Non-prorated warranty: Owners of the Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress get a 20 year warranty that is nonprorated for the full term of the warranty. That means the mattress will be fully repaired, replaced, or refunded for 20 years.

Cons

  • Price: The Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress has a higher price point than the average memory foam mattress.
  • Sleep trial minimum: While the Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress has an industry standard 100 night sleep trial, it requires that owners try out their mattress for at least 30 nights before it can be returned for a full refund.
  • Potentially expensive shipping: While free shipping is offered to the contiguous 48 states, there is a charge to deliver the mattress to Alaska, Hawaii, and outside of the United States. Shipping fees for these locations can be expensive.

Sleep Trial

The Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress offers a 100 night sleep trial for owners. However, there is a 30 night waiting period to be eligible for a full return. If you decide to return your mattress before trying it out for 30 nights, there will be a 25 percent return fee. If you decide to return your mattress after the 30 night waiting period during the sleep trial period, you will get a full refund and will not have to pay for shipping, handling, or restocking.

Nest Bedding requires that customers use a proper base to support the mattress. A proper base is breathable and non flexible with slats no more than four inches apart. Unacceptable bases are those that rest on the floor, old style box springs, and frames with slats more than 4 inches apart or those that are flexible or bowed.

To initiate a return, you will need to email the company directly with photos of the mattress, its tags, and the base or foundation used with the mattress. Nest Bedding will not accept returns for mattresses that are stained, damaged, or contaminated with bed bugs or mold. They do not accept returns based on allergic reactions.

Customers who live in states with a Nest showroom (New York, Illinois, California) can have returned mattresses picked up. Otherwise, you can donate your mattress and obtain proof of donation. You will be reimbursed for charges related to donating your mattress. If you're unable to donate the mattress, Nest Bedding will arrange for a mattress pickup at no charge.

You can choose to exchange your mattress for a different model or a different firmness rating. However, size changes are not allowed as a free exchange and exchanges are not available if you do not unpackage your mattress within 30 days of delivery. International exchanges are not accepted.

Warranty

A 20 year non-prorated warranty comes with the Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress. With the non-prorated warranty, customers will get a full repair, replacement, or refund of the mattress for the full 20 years, rather than a diminished value over time.

The Nest Bedding warranty covers defects including faulty or unraveling seams and indentations of one inch or deeper. The warranty does not cover wrinkles, blemishes, cosmetic faults or other naturally occurring changes in appearance. Damaged caused by the owner including burns, stains, and cuts, mold, bed bugs, or using an improper foundation are not covered. Offgassing odors and discrepancies in mattress width, length, or height less than one and a half inch are not covered.

The warranty only applies to the original purchaser and mattress repairs or replacements will not start a new warranty or extend the warranty length.

Nest Bedding will decide whether to repair or replace the mattress. If the mattress is replaced, Nest Bedding will choose the most suitable model, including version, color, and style, however, this may differ from the original model. If you decide to replace a defective mattress with an upgraded model, you will pay the difference in price to upgrade.

Mattress Performance

How firm is the Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress?

The Nest Alexander Signature Series offers three firmness levels of soft, medium, and firm, ranging from three to eight on firmness ratings. Most sleepers will be able to find an appropriate level of firmness for their needs from the Nest Alexander Signature Series, however, those who need a particularly soft or firm mattress may not be satisfied.

How much motion transfer will you get with the Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress?

With a memory foam comfort layer, you can expect that the Nest Alexander Signature Series will not have major motion transfer. However, this mattress has a one and a half inch quilted cover that may transfer some motion. Overall, this mattress will isolate motion well compared to innerspring and other more bouncy mattresses and you're not likely to be disturbed by a partner moving in the bed.

Does the Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress have good edge support?

The Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress is designed with an edge support base foam, which offers better support than comparable memory foam mattresses. You shouldn't feel like you're falling off of the bed while sleeping near the edge.

Will the Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress smell when it arrives?

As is the case with most memory foam mattresses, the Nest Alexander Signature Series has a slight offgassing odor when unboxed. However, you can expect the smell to dissipate within a few hours or days. If you're particularly sensitive to smells, a memory foam mattress like the Nest Alexander Signature Series may not be the best choice.

How supportive is the Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress?

The Nest Alexander Signature Series responds well to sleeper weight, offering good support while relieving pressure points and aligning the spine.

Will the Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress conform to my body?

The Nest Alexander Signature Series' memory foam comfort layer reacts to the curves of your body with good conforming abilities.

How long should the Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress last?

The foams used by the Nest Alexander Signature Series have good density, so they should be durable. However, the mattress has not been on the market long enough to demonstrate its long-term durability. You should expect the Nest Alexander Signature Series to last about as long as the average memory foam mattress, which is about seven years.

Is the Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress good for sex?

With memory foam construction, you may find it difficult to move well on the Nest Alexander Signature Series for sexual activity.

How does the Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress support different sleeping positions?

Side: Very good for average sleepers (130 to 230 pounds), good for lightweight sleepers (less than 130 pounds), fair for heavyweight sleepers (more than 230 pounds)
